For the first time since recruiting services have started publishing national rankings, the Missouri Tigers have received a commitment from the number one recruit in the nation.

Dorial Green-Beckham, a 6 foot 6 and 221 pound wide receiver out of Springfield, MO announced Wednesday morning on ESPNU that he was going to be a Missouri Tiger.

Throughout the recruiting process most national experts believed that Arkansas, Texas, and Oklahoma were the favorites to land the nation’s best recruit, but over the last couple weeks momentum shifted in Missouri’s favor.

On January 28, Green-Beckham took his last official visit and it was to Missouri.

The Missouri students chanted “MIZ-DGB” throughout the Tiger’s basketball game against Texas Tech and the biggest cheer of the day was when Beckham walked by the student section when he left the game.

Ranked as the top player in the class of 2012 by Rivals.com and Scout.com and the No. 2 ranked player according to 247Sports, Green-Beckham had 87 catches for 1,683 yards and 17 touchdowns this season for Hillcrest High School. He is also a standout in basketball and track.

Green-Beckham is the third 5-star recruit to commit to Missouri since 2002.

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert was the first back in 2008 and Sheldon Richardson followed him in 2009.
